What's good guys? Today woke up at 6am to go to the gym with my friend for a morning leg workout. Pretty brutal one, I could barely walk my way back home.
Warm-up: SQUATS 1 set of 20+ reps
I like to warm-up my legs just by grabbing the bar with no weight and doing ass to grass squats. Go for high reps and focus on really getting the full range motion.
#1 exercise: LEG PRESS 12-15/8-12/6-10/4-6
Leg press is my absolute favorite leg exercise! (probably because it's one of the few where I can lift "big boy" weights).
The only thing you need to remember is to control the weight, then just simply go through the motion. Simple, yet effective exercise.
#2 exercise: HAMSTRING CURLS 4 sets of 10-12 reps
Great exercise that will really make you feel the muscle working. Since you're in a machine there isn't much technique to it, just remember to control the weight.
#3 exercise: QUAD EXTENSIONS 4 sets of 10-12 reps
By the end of the 2nd set I was already feeling the burn so the last 2 sets were pretty brutal but it's just one of those occasions in life where you have to grow a pair and keep going. Once again, remember to control the weight.
#4 exercise: STANDING GLUTE MACHINE 4 sets of 12-15 reps
Now, I must admit I used to laugh at guys who I saw using this machine, but the previous week I tried just for the lolz and I don't know if I'm doing it right, but my HAMSTRINGS are the ones that really burn in this exercise not my glutes. So be explosive on the kick and control the weight back, with the high rep range you should be feeling it in your hamstrings pretty hard (at least I was).
So yeah, that wraps my leg workout for the week. An intense one in my opinion. Later on at about 7pm I'll be back at the gym to hit my arms since tomorrow I'll be travelling. Stay tuned for that.
